Still having cavities/ decay?
Have you ever used fluoride?
Fluoride is effective in preventing cavities and tooth decay. Rinsing with fluoride or coating your teeth with fluoride by the dentist helps keep your teeth healthy and strong.
Fluoride comes in two forms, systemic and topical:
Systemic fluoride is ingested, usually through a public water supply. During teeth formative stage, the fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, making it stronger and more resistant to cavities.
Fluoride can also be applied topically which prevents cavities on teeth present in the mouth. It can be delivered via toothpaste, mouthwash, and professional(dentist) fluoride applications.
Receiving a fluoride treatment from your dentist
A fluoride treatment by your dentist takes just a few minutes with a restriction of 30 minutes not to rinse, eat, or drink for the teeth to absorb the fluoride. Your dentist may prescribe you a fluoridated mouthwash, gel, or rinse.
